Borneo for this!

Raleigh
The Princes Trust
Welcome

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

We have set ourselves the ambitious target of raising £10,000 for Raleigh and the Princes Trust, and the challenge of taking on the 4100m Mt Kinabalu - a tough and demanding 9-day expedition in the formidable Malaysian Borneo.

The money we raise will be used to enable disadvantaged young people in the UK, nominated by The Princes Trust, to take part in community projects and expeditions with Raleigh, giving them the confidence and self-belief to turn their lives around. Read more about the causes here.

Competition: What’s the CRAZIEST thing you’ve ever done for charity?

This has certainly been quite an adventure so far…

We’ve ran half marathons; dressed up as pirates, monks, wizards, cows and brides; spent hours in the freezing cold with collecting buckets; ran through chest-deep mud; adapted to veganism for a month; injured ankles, recovered gracefully, and endured painful and humiliating all-over body waxing!

So – in the spirit of all that, we’re running a little competition that asks one simple question: What’s the craziest thing YOU have every done in the name of charity?

Head over to http://bit.ly/crazything right now to submit your crazy thing!

Two weeks left, £850 still to raise!

Gosh, just two weeks today until we fly out to Borneo!

It’s been an incredible adventure so far, and the fundraising has been a much greater challenge than any of us could ever have imagined, but we’re now over £9000 towards out £10k target.

That makes us all incredibly proud, but there is still a way to go!

If anyone can help out by contributing even a small amount towards that final £850, please make your donation at http://www.justgiving.com/borneoforthis

Hell Runner – I did it!

Wow, never before have I seen / ran through / slipped all over / waded up to my chest through quite so much mud!

It was VERY tough, but I completed the 10-mile Hell Runner cross-country race quite a bit faster than my 2 hour target – in 1 hour and 31 minutes :-D

Hell Runner!

This is the first big event in my training in the run up to Borneo.

It’s going to be nature at its toughest. It’s 11 miles (longer than I’ve ever run before). That’s almost a half marathon, but I think it’s going to be much tougher with rough terrain, steep hills and muddy pools to navigate…

Wizards, Pirates and Bunnies

Last Saturday, the most courageous of pirates, wizards and bunnies braved London’s Southbank for another excellent Treasure Hunt. Tourists and locals alike were stunned with ad-hoc street spell-casting, unexpected proposals in pubs and some crazy-looking people galavanting around in animal masks…

Capgemini Race Night in Woking ASE

Thanks to everyone who attended the Race Night last Thursday! An excellent time was had by all, and a lot of money was spent as well; a concoction that is sure to make an excellent Charity event.
We made £320 from the event, and €30 (the joys of working for an international company), which I believe [...]

£5k and Ali’s off to Borneo a little early!

A couple months ago, our manager John came to us with another incredible opportunity – the chance to take an 8-month sabbatical working for Raleigh in either Costa Rica or Borneo.

For Ali, this was perfect timing, and he is off to Borneo next week, not for a 9-day team challenge, but to spend 8 months living there, organising community projects and expeditions for young people. We’re all a little bit jealous, and wish him all the best on his amazing adventure!

Then we hit a big milestone in September – over £5,000 raised – over half-way to our target!!

London Treasure Hunt II – less than 2 weeks away!

Think something between a Treasure Hunt and a Pub Crawl – but with more silly costumes, a chance to sharpen your mind with cryptic clues, and plenty of opportunities for the public to look on in amazement and think, just what the heck are they doing? (and it looks like fun!)

So far this month: 54 miles cycled, 0 miles run

Training for Kinabalu

Me and Dad climbing up Mt Arkle
Properly started training for Mt Kinabalu now!
As well as cycling to work 4 times last week (which feels great – try it!), just spent a long weekend in the Scottish Highlands – on the far north-west coast – which is absolutely stunning.
Did two mountains – of course nowhere near [...]

Our first event: Runaway brides and mad cows!

For one day only, sunny Soho saw 8 teams of 42 players in total running around posing for ridiculous photos, getting into crazy situations and generally having a hilariously fun time as they followed clues and rose to the challenges posed by the first Go Game for Good. All in the name of raising money for Raleigh and The Princes Trust.

Hello, I’m Dan…

I thought a nice way to start here would be with some introductions. So, I’m Dan, I’ve been with the Business Technology Consulting graduate scheme in Capgemini for just over a year. And I’m almost certainly the person most of my friends would say is most likely to want to spend 9 days in the rainforest fighting off leeches. Having spent…
