Wizards, Pirates and Bunnies

Captain Hook’s Misfits

Originally uploaded by Spanner Dan

Last Saturday, the most courageous of pirates, wizards and bunnies braved London’s Southbank for another excellent Treasure Hunt. Tourists and locals alike were stunned with ad-hoc street spell-casting, unexpected proposals in pubs and some crazy-looking people galavanting around in animal masks.

Thanks to everyone who took part!

And thanks once again to our sponsors for the event – the excellent hostel and party venue Belushi’s London Bridge and the frighteningly fun London Bridge Experience who provided some excellent prizes to our winning team.

Arrr! It’s brilliant! Arrr!

One-legged pirate dancing was just one of the many activities our brave adventurers took on last Saturday in our 2nd London Treasure Hunt – aka “The Quest for the Golden Chicken”.

The scene was set by Amy and I, scientists who’s been tracking the mysterious and powerful Golden Chicken ever since it arrived in London, and our six teams set out upon their daring mission to discover it’s true power.

One team did this rather unexpectedly quickly – with some quick word work revealing the final location to them actually only minutes from the start. Well done to “Treasure C**t” for tracking it down!

But of course, there was plenty more to keep them, and the other 5 teams occupied all afternoon. The day saw a couple of moving romantic Shakespeare renditions, some very obscene vegetables and an awfully confused security guard called Marvin!

It all culminated in the wonderful Belushi’s, who kindly provided an absolutely cracking party location for the “after party” as well as prizes for runners up, “Threesome”, and the overall winners, “The Mummy Slayers” – who also received a generously donated ticket each to The London Bridge Experience.

A huge thanks to everyone who came and made the event so much fun – and especially to Laura aka “Wizzie the Wizard”, James the pirate, all the scary people at The London Bridge Experience, the Colombian coffee shop, Burnt Sugar in Borough market for the free fudge and Vicky and all the staff at Belushi’s for giving us such a great venue and such unbelievable drinks offers.

They certainly did the trick – and we raised over £325 towards our cause.

Check out all the fantastic photos and videos from the weekend here.

Our first event: Runaway brides and mad cows!

The Go Game was immense.

For one day only, sunny Soho saw 42 players running around in 8 teams posing for ridiculous photos, getting into crazy situations and generally having a hilariously fun time as they followed clues and rose to the challenges posed by the first Go Game for Good. All in the name of raising money for Raleigh and The Princes Trust.

A massive thank you everyone who took part. We raised £297 through the event, putting us a touch above that £1500 threshold – well on our way but definitely needing lots more support.

The creativity was spectacular as teams found the most bizarre locations for “inappropriate breakdancing” and composed moving reenactments of historical events using only their fingers.

They also encountered a bawling bride (played by Amy), a Spiderman who’d lost his strength and self-confidence (Ali), a vegetarian pirate (Andy) and a very mad cow (Dan).

Amy as a bawling bride, Ali looking tough as spiderman, Dan mooing his best and Andy sporting a fashionable moustache. The things we do for charity.

Perhaps it should be called FUN raising.

Definitely a unique event, and one that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone (including us!) We were very lucky to team up with Mei and Chris from The Go Game UK, who run these kind of events all over the US and Europe. Thanks guys for making it so much fun!

Seems like demand will be high for a second Go Game for Good later on in the summer.

Stay tuned, and if you want to get involved with future events, please do get in touch.
